Green Bay Packers v. Philadelphia Eagles

Thursday Night games have not been a strength of our pick sets so far through 3 weeks of the NFL Season. Aside from getting a couple point totals correct, we have incorrectly picked the Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers, and Tennessee Titans both Straight Up and Against the Spread. All 3 Thursday Night games have featured upsets by the betting underdog. Green Bay, Tampa Bay, and Jacksonville have all come into the game favored to lose, and have come out on top. Since I am a man of statistics and trends, I am going to hope that our stats support our pick and finally get us in the Thursday Night win column.

As far as the two teams are concerned, Philadelphia is definitely in need of a win as they sit at 1-2 through 3 games. Green Bay has looked impressive, especially defensively and are comfortably riding a 3-0 start into this Thursday night matchup. Philly will definitely need some help from a medical perspective. It appears as if Alshon Jeffery could make his return for this game, which will give the Eagles offense a huge boost as they face off against a strong Packer defense. Green Bay is still searching for their offense under new head coach Matt LaFleur. Despite winning all of their games, Aaron Rodgers has not put up the gaudy stats that he is capable of, though he has faced 3 very capable defenses in Chicago, Minnesota, and Denver. If Philadelphia is healthy, they will test the Packers defense more than they have been challenged so far this year. My gut tells me that the Packers take this game, but the trends and stats tell me Philly is going to come into Green Bay and steal one.

Interesting Stats:

  • Last Meeting – 2016 Week 12 (27-13 Packers Win)
  • Over the past 7 games Philadelphia has played against NFC North opponents the under has hit 5 times
  • Green Bay has won 7 consecutive games played in Week 4 of the NFL Season

Straight up Pick: Philadelphia Eagles

Against the Spread: Philadelphia Eagles +4

Over/Under: UNDER 46
